Horsehair Raku
Completion: March 27th, 2024
Claybody: Studio Clay, 3.5 lbs
Bisque: Cone 04
Glaze: Raku
Technique: Bowl on a Potter’s Wheel
Glaze: Vase was bone hard and burnished with two coats of white terra sigillata. After Raku firing, horsehair was draped across hot vase. Once the vase was room temperature, the vase was sealed and polished with wax paste.

Technique: Bowl on a Potter’s Wheel
Glaze: Vase was bone hard and burnished with one light coat of white terra sigillata. A design was painted with wax resist and then the pot was dipped in Copper Sand glaze. The areas with wax resist were cleaned up with a small, stiff dry paintbrush.

Glaze: Raku – Copper Sand
Technique: Bowl on a Potter’s Wheel
Glaze: Vase was bone hard and burnished with one light coat of white terra sigillata. A design was painted with wax resist and then the pot was dipped in Copper Sand glaze. The areas with wax resist were cleaned up with a small, stiff dry paintbrush.
